JOAQUIN RODRIGUEZ
Rodriguez Guitars is based in Tauranga, Aotearoa, New Zealand.
My passion for continuous self-improvement, increasing my knowledge and, above all, loving what I do, makes my creations possible.
I began my career as a guitar maker in my home country, Buenos Aires, Argentina, at “El Virutero” Luthiery school directed by Julio Malarino.

I started my studies at the age of 19, for three years at the school. There I focused on the craft of classical guitars. Learning about the construction of classical guitars from legendary luthiers such as Antonio de Torres and Daniel Friederich.
After completing my studies, I did a two years apprentice with my teacher and mentor Julio Malarino, building with him his high-end classical guitars. This experience trained me professionally in the field of classical guitar.

The apprenticeship was focused on the construction of the highest-end steel string guitars. These are one of the most responsive and finest guitars available worldwide.

After my journey in Argentina, my next step was Berkeley, California where I did a six-month apprenticeship with the renowned Leo Buendia.

Now, settled in Tauranga, Aotearoa, New Zealand, working on my own

I expanded my option of instruments and adopted the three most popular models of steel string guitars, OO, OM and Mod-D.
My guitars are built one at a time, focusing on every single detail.
